New research from national steak & cocktail specialist 'Bar + Block' has unveiled the hottest Gin trends in the UK since January 2023, just in time for 'World Gin Day' taking place this Saturday.

Compiling Google search trends and drawing on their cocktail expertise, the brand has conducted market research uncovering the most significant changes to the spirit landscape in recent months. Their findings have shed light on the top trending spirit, brand, and Gin-based cocktail, set to dominate this year's World Gin Day.

To uncover the UK's top trending spirit, Bar + Block has collated search data from three spirit staples: Vodka, Gin and Rum. Gin has secured the top spot ahead of this year's World Gin Day, effortlessly racing ahead of its competitors. The quintessential spirit has surged in popularity in recent years, infused with a vast array of botanicals to create a unique range of flavours boosting its popularity.

Compiling search data over the last three years, Bar + Block have investigated the top trending Gin brands. They found that the search term 'Tanqueray Gin' received the highest volume of searches ahead of this year's World Gin Day. Established in 1830 and originating from Bloomsbury in London, Tanqueray's London Dry Gin is one of the most awarded worldwide.

Taking five of the most popular Gin-based cocktails, including the Tom Collins, Gin and tonic, Negroni, Gin fizz, and the Martini, Bar + Block has unveiled the favourites of England, Wales, and Scotland. They have unanimously declared the Martini to be the hottest Gin-based cocktail of 2023. The sophisticated Gin-based classic has surpassed its competitors with ease, harnessing over two-thirds of searches. Following behind, the Negroni secured the second sport reflecting the viral Negroni Sbagliato trend inspired by a 'House of the Dragon' clip that took TikTok by storm, marking the impact social media can have on the UK's bar orders.

Speaking about the research, an expert mixologist from Bar + Block has stated: "Gin has swept the nation with its endless versatility, offering boundless possibilities for mixologists to explore. The unanimous consensus on the Martini as the top Gin-based cocktail of 2023 speaks volumes about the timeless sophistication that Gin brings to your glass, perfect for sipping on as temperatures rise."
